Hi, This was a good week this past week. Just for everybody's information: I DO NOT USE FACEBOOK. MY SISTER RUNS MY FACEBOOK, SO ANY COMMENTS MADE ON FACEBOOK ARE NOT FROM ME. I DO NOT EVEN HAVE THE PASSWORD TO GO ON THERE BECAUSE MY SISTER CHANGED IT SO THAT TEMPTATION WOULD NOT BE THERE. We have been getting a bunch of work done. This past week we have found 4 new investigators. We have over tripled the amount of investigators from what we had when I first got here. I stil feel like we can always do more. We have also tripled the amount of lessons we are teaching every week now from the first week I was here. This place is starting to turn around. It was very discouraging when I first arrived here from going teaching 20 lessons in my last area to only 3 a week here. So first goal was to start finding people. And we have been finding people. We are starting to get investigators to church now. Which is good. We now are working committing people to Baptism. We have one person who would already be baptized if her father would let her. So we are trying to start to work with him so that we could get Camerson Baptized. We have a couple other people close in there desires to be baptized but they need to start keeping the Word of Wisdom. It is all a process though sifting and finding those who are prepared to be Baptized, those elect.
Tuesday was a hard day because after district meeting we went out checking up on potentials that we found and that were in the Area Book. All of them turned us down though. Wednedsday we had service in the morning in the food pantry. We taught a whole lesson to one of the people working there, which was pretty cool. Then we went with a member who just recently returned from his Mission to do service for an investigator. We did a bunch of yard work and taught a lesson after. It was different wearing work clothes and teaching a lesson. She is struggling and has a hard time believing some things we say because we are both young guys but oh well. But she started to forget that once we got the spirit. She is very difficult sometimes though. One thing which is hard is dropping investigators. I hate doing it personally. I rather them drop us first. But We have had to do it here. Because some of them will not progess or have any desires. Part of the sifting through process. I wish I did that more in ESTL. oh well... That is why this is constantly a learning experience. And pretty soon I will not be green anymore because I hit my 6 month mark in a little bit more then a week. I will not be teased anymore for being a greeny. haha
Thursday we went to the Senior citizen home to do our service which is helping with the arts and crafts. But they had a local high school choir doing a concert that we did not know about. So we got there and they had us just go visit people who were in there rooms still. The second room we went into we started talking to the guy and found out his Dad was a member after he was remarried to a member. We taught him a little about the church and then he invited us to come again. So we gained a new investigator off of it. It was really cool. We taught Steve the Word of Wisodm after that. He commited to start quiting smoking. We are going to start the stop smoking workshop with him and see how that goes. Smoking is a hard thing for a lot of people out here. Good thing that any thing we do with Christ we can overcome:) That night we went to the Benefit concert for the Woman who was trampled by the Bull in our ward. She was a music teacher and the Non-members were the ones who started and threw the concert at our church building. It was really cool because Sis. Hobenar has many daughters and one son who are all musical. They did most of the concert performances. The Rising Generation, which is a youth choir made up of youth from 4 different stakes in the area performed also. A few kids in the ward are in it. It was funny because Calian Tuttle, a friend from BYUI who is from out here has a sister in that choir. She spotted me out afterwards and she walked away out of my hearing to call her sister and tell her that she met me. And of course told me that Calian said hi. That was cool. I found out that after having dinner one night earlier this past week at a memebers home that they were from La Canada, which is in Socal. They know the Dodges who used to live there and moved to ward I grew up in then the ward was split and they were put into the new ward. But it was cool that knew some people in common from back home. It was cool that there were a ton of non-members at the concert. Nothing really came out of it yet. Friday was the first time we have tracted in over a week. I do not like tracting at all. I rather find people in other ways. But that day we had a feeling to go see a couple who were in the potential records. They lived on the same street. So we tracted the whole street while we were there. We taught many of lessons on peoples front doors. It is spring break so everyone was home. The other reason why we tracted. We gained some new investigators from that street also. That night we went to a very god bbq place with members. They feed us very well here. It is the best. But Friday was defiantly the best day of the week. Saturday was a let down though because we had many appointments fall through. It rained so hard that day that we pulled off the road into a parking lot because our breaks were getting really wet so they started failing a little bit. We sat that for what seemed a eternity (really only like 45 mins.) in the car. The lightening was way intense out here.
Sunday was a great day also. We got a lot of work done. It really is the best day to get missionary work done if you know how to work it. Which it has taken me a while to figure it out. We got two new investigators to come to church. That was cool. We gained two new investigators that day. We taught a lesson to these two people who were on the potential records. They used to be formers. They have many member friends in some of the other wards next to us. They have been to church and everything. There kids dated member kids and stuff too. They have a son who is stationed at Camp Pendelton. I was exctied when they told me that because that is really close to Temecula Back home. I went there many times for camping and the beach. They are actually going out there next weekend to see there son and Family. I told them to stop by my house while they were out there. I gave them many places to go while they were there. haha. But overall it was really a awesome week. Very happy about it but we still have more work to be done and always can improve and do more. Anyways have a great week everybody!!!
Love,
